We’ve all heard the saying “You could cut the tension in the room with a knife”. But what’s really going on when we sense an emotion like tension? Are we actually able to influence others with our emotions? Can you train your nervous system to be calm in the face of chaos? What does this have to do with leadership?
The formula is very simple: When we are present, we have a stronger capacity to choose where to direct our attention and what action to take. The more choice we have, the more power we have in our lives. The result: we are able to break free of the habits that have held us in unproductive and ineffective behaviors. Seems simple, right? It’s harder than it seems.
